The song was written in 1999, after Hogan had spoken to her friend, a then virtually unknown singer named Neko Case, who was calling from a pay phone from some forgotten roadside between meagerly attended shows. OCEAN CITY — Fans of area punk-rock trio Backroad Bastards may want to check out the group Saturday, May 19, at Peppers Tavern.
“This is probably going to be our last show for a while,” said bassist Drew Evans.
Evans is joined in the group by drummer Rich Schaefer and singer-guitarist Paul Sanyshyn. “Paul is moving to Texas for a job,” Evans said.

Greg Fox tried a few different careers before finding one that stuck.
Fox, broker and owner of Realty World Alliance, which operates offices in east and west Wichita and has 50 agents, started out as a medic in the Army.

Songwriter Dan Boeckner is drawing inspiration from his time as a Victoria punk rocker to invent soundscapes for an upcoming indie film starring John Cusack.
